Realm Protection Ltd Income Protection Insurance is designed to help take care of your normal monthly commitments in the event that you are off work as a result of an accident, sickness (disability) or involuntary unemployment / involuntary redundancy. Your outgoings do not stop just because your income does, that is why income protection can be important. You can select cover from the following options: Accident, Sickness & Unemployment (ASU) cover, Unemployment only (U only) or Accident and Sickness Only (AS Only) cover.
If you have an existing policy with another provider, you can apply to cancel and replace your cover to Realm Protection if you feel the policy we offer meets your demands and needs and you meet the eligibility requirements. There should be no gap between the date you cancel your old policy and the start date of your new Realm policy.
The minimum deferred or waiting period is 30 days.

The wait period before you can claim will depend on the excess period you select. The longer your excess period is, the lower your monthly premiums will be, but the longer you’ll have to wait until we start paying your benefit. Everyone’s personal circumstances are different and when you’re considering what excess period best suits your needs, consider how long you could manage financially if your income stopped or reduced if you were unable to work due to accident, sickness or unemployment. Realm Income Protection insurance offers three excess; 0 (back to day 1 cover), 30 or 60 days excess. For Accident and sickness claims the insurance will start after the excess period you have selected is over. For example, if you have chosen back to day one cover (0 day excess) you will receive payment 31 days after your claim start date, backdated to your claim start date. Likewise, if you have chosen either 30 or 60 days excess you will receive payment 31 days after your claim start date, backdated to either 30 or 60 days depending on the excess period chosen.
